The Lentus Thermik is the successor of my Variant 2. I wanted something bigger and well hand-launchable in the plains. In my age the visibility in high altitude is of concern too.
As the name says the Lentus is optimized for thermal flying. With its four-flap wing each flight phase can be trimmed optimally. The landings are a pleasure with butterfly as landing aid. The flight silhouette is the one off a racing goat, just made of foam. I built in the GPS-Logger 2 from SM-Modellbau with TEC nozzle as a variometer.
All parameters like position, altitude, speed, vario speed, distance, heading, accelerations, ... are recorded. These logs can be converted and visualized in Google Earth. Great thing. Here is the log of the maiden flight as an example:
