Attracted by unusual airplanes I dared to build a simple autogyro model. In the FMT 6/2006 magazine I found an article about download design drawings which looked very interesting. The model is made of Depron und carbon fibre parts. Quite some flights were required until it flew the way I wanted. But now I have model which is a bit heavier than planed but it has convenient flight characteristics. It already produced one or the other passerby's astonished glance to the sky.
In the mean time the Whopper got an illumination for night flights. It is amazing how good orientation is working in the dark with so sparse light.
Slowly some symptoms of fatigue showed up which climaxed in the loss of one rotor during flight. The rest of the Whopper crashed so hard that a repair was not worth anymore.
